Academy Partners
The Academy is brought to you through a partnership between CADCA’s National
Coalition Institute, the National Guard Bureau, and Community Systems Group.
National
Coalition Institute
The Institute was established in 2002 by an Act of Congress to serve as a center
for coalition training, technical assistance, research and capacity building.
The Institute provides training and technical assistance to communities across
the nation.
National
Guard Bureau, Counterdrug Office
The Counterdrug Division is responsible for formulating, managing, and distributing
resources for the congressionally mandated Counterdrug Program. The National
Guard Bureau (NGB) Counterdrug Program, with members in most major communities,
provides highly skilled personnel, specialized equipment, and facilities to
support law enforcement agencies and community-based organizations in response
to the changing drug threat. Regional Training Centers provide needed instruction
and nationally the NGB is a vital partner to prevention organizations such as
CADCA. As a member of the Regional Training Center network, the National Counterdrug
Training Center in Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA acts as the “lead center”
and, along with other centers in Florida, Iowa and Mississippi, covers the costs
of instructors, housing, food and training materials for the National Coalition
Academy.
Community
Systems Group
Community Systems Group (CSG) is an independent consulting firm specializing
in the support and evaluation of community coalitions. CSG has years of experience
working with coalitions targeting a range of health outcomes including teen
pregnancy, substance abuse, crime, literacy, heart disease, nutrition, teen
suicide, HIV prevention and immunizations. CSG was selected to act as the lead
project manager for the NTI because of its familiarity with the partners, the
curriculum and CSG’s training experience. CSG’s role in supporting
the NTI is to serve as overall project manager, review and adapt selected curriculum,
teach pilot courses and provide train-the-trainer activities once coursework
has been validated.
